Client: Worldwide leader in special purpose construction equipment


Project Background

A leading suppliers of construction equipment had invested in an India subsidiaries with 3 sales engineers to manage its sales activities. After 18 months and little success, they approached VPC to manage 360 degrees their Indian subsidiary, from administrative / accounting aspects to the sales / after sales services.


VPC approach and solution

VPC undertook an assessment of the Company’s human capital and dealer network and the results showed that there was no coordination between the employees and the dealers had marginalised the company’s products in their sales efforts. We decided to segment the market based on geographical considerations, installing a Regional Manager in each of these to better monitor and support the dealer network. Sensitive to local procurement practices we very aggressively sold machines spread throughout the territory to ensure a minimum installed base in the country that could serve as cross reference for new leads.


Impact and Results

After two years of VPC managing their operations, India has become one of the top 5 international markets for the Company and sales value has grown by more than 161% in the first year and 112% in the second year.

Client: Boutique European healthcare architecture and engineering company


Project Background

The Company is an Italian architecture and engineering company with core competency in the health care sector. The Company wanted to pursue business opportunities in the Indian market and asked VPC to act as its local representative office to identify, pursue opportunities and seek pertinent partners for joint bidding.


VPC approach and solution

Based on its experiences in India and pragmatic approach, VPC suggested that the Company create a JV with a suitable local partner that would (a) increase price competitiveness (b) ensure a healthy pipeline of projects opportunities. Further, the ides to create a JV and not a project by project partnership approach, was based on our experiences that when a specific sector of interest is identified. It is better to spend more time at the beginning seeking the “Right” partner. This method ensures that objectives, roles and responsibilities, commercial terms, etc between the parties is well defined and transferable across projects as opposed to having to race against bidding timelines and in the process also having to define all these aspects. VPC would manage the day to day activities o the Company on behalf of the JV.

The Company created a JV with a leading Indian engineering company and have jointly participated and been awarded an important number of projects.
